With 2011 ending in a couple of day, it is imperative that we take a moment to reflect on where we have been and where we are now. It is so easy to get tied up in the woulda should couldas but seriously, if you look at where you were on January 1, 2011 at 12:01 a.m., you should see a difference. Even minute changes can show you where your starting point should be to build on growth for 2012. To easily accomplish this, it may be essential to pull out pen and pad to write down where you were and where you stand now. It may be helpful to ask a friend or loved one who you trust, if they see a change in you over the past year. Whatever your method, seeing yourself as an evolving spiritual being is part of this journey we call life.
Now, if you are ready to assess your growth, make two columns on a piece of paper. In one column title it then. Obviously the other column must be titled now. Ask yourself, where was I spiritually? Were you accepting of a spiritual being? If you were, did you grow closer to your Most High? If you like your responses, give thanks for being open to change. If you aren’t happy with your progress, don’t give up. The good thing about a new day, especially a new year, is the chance to begin again.
We all are works in progress and even our Lord recognizes this fact. If we look at New Living Translation Habakkuk 2:3, we will see that your Lord has ordained a time and date for everything in our life. As such we must first trust that in the coming year, we must be patient with that plan. I can tell you from personal experience that patience is not my best trait. However, if you add a column on to your list from up above, ask yourself what things have been impatient about and what has your rushed actions led to. Often rushed, impatient and yes untrustworthy behaviors lead to downfalls and bad results. If we truly look at the key words in Habukkuk, we will see vision, fulfilled, wait and not delayed. In other words, His vision will be fulfilled if you wait and He promises that your blessings won’t be delayed. I don’t know about you but this is great motivation to work on actively participating in a living experience in the new year. This bible verse alone is motivation to wait, pray and trust God for YOUR blessings.
Habakkuh 2:3 (NLT) This vision is for a future time.
It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
for it will surely take place.
It will not be delayed.
Happy 2012 to all. I wish you all peace, love and joy in this journey called life.
